style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">The fivespot, Nemophila maculata, a California wild flower, is said to like<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">ly feel at home in<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">andy, somewhat alkaline soils which drain fast,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en\">or, at least, not slowly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>temperatures between 24\u00b0 F and 77\u00b0 F \/ -4.444\u00b0 C and 25\u00b0 C.<\/li>\n<li>low humidity.<\/li>\n<li>the shade, for a while, when it&#8217;s hot.<\/li>\n<li>open spaces in grasslands, on foot hills, and in forests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en\" align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">It is said that the fivespot is:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">often comfortable being watered only once or twice a month in summer.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">spreading in form.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">fast in growth, but limited to a foot or so in size.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li lang=\"en\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">in bloom in late winter, throughout spring, and, perhaps, even into summer.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">able to survive cold down to 0\u00b0 F \/ -17.8\u00b0 C.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">an annual.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>attractive to bees, the funereal duskywing, the alfalfa looper moth, Viridiseptis marina, and Annaphila depicta.<\/li>\n<li>often to added to bee gardens.<\/li>\n<li>in the borage family \u2013 a member of the waterleaf subfamily, specifically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en\" align=\"LEFT\">There is also the desert fivespot, Eremalche rotundifolia, but those are
